Candle Care Guide
For Wooden Wick Candles by Recreated Candle Co.

First Burn Is Most Important

  • Always allow the wax to melt evenly across the top (edge to edge) during your first burn.

  • This prevents tunnelling and sets the “memory” for your candle.

  • Ideal burn time for the first light: 2–4 hours.

Wooden Wick Tips

  • Keep the wick trimmed to 1/8" (about the height of a grain of rice) before each burn.

  • If the flame is too high or flickering, gently trim the wick with a wick trimmer or pinch off the charred bits once cooled.

  • Wooden wicks burn slower than cotton, so don’t worry if the flame seems smaller—it’s working as designed.

Safe & Clean Burning

  • Always burn your candle on a heat-resistant surface, away from drafts and pets.

  • Do not burn longer than 4 hours at a time.

  • Stop using your candle once about ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom.

Troubleshooting

  • Candle won’t stay lit? Wick may be too long or there’s too much char. Extinguish, trim to 1/8", and relight.

  • Uneven melt pool? Let the candle burn a little longer (up to 4 hours) to allow wax to catch up.

  • Weak flame? Gently tip out any excess melted wax or trim the wick slightly shorter.

  • Smoking or sooting? Wick is too long—trim it down before relighting.

Final Tip

Burning a candle is a ritual—slow, grounding, and intentional. With proper care, your Recreated Candle Co. candle will deliver hours of cozy crackle, clean fragrance, and unforgettable scent memories.
